Take a moment to describe the main character of your book. Introduce him/her to the blog. How do you envision him/her? What physical characteristics does he/she possess? What does he/she use for motivation in your book? How does he/she interact with those around him/her? What does your main character add to the story? If this person truly existed in your world, would you hang out with him/her? Would you like him/her?
my book is the road. my main character is the dad, he is older with health problems, and always coughing he is very skinny and has very little energy due to starvation. the boy is the inly source of light in the dads life. he needs to keep the boy alive for as long as he can, he gives the boy more than he gives himself. the dad adds assurance to the boys mind that they ant going to die. if he existed in my world no I wouldn't unless there was an apocalypse, because he knows what he is doing. he kind of seams bossy and a know it all. no I wouldn't like him otherwise I would use him for my survival.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like this guy is very mean like your saying and I agree I wouldn't be his friend either.
DeleteI wouldn't want to be around him if he was bossy either.
Deletei would hangout with him because we could survive if he acts bossy.
DeleteBack when i read this book i got a very different feeling of the man i felt he was making the absolute best of a terrible situation trying to protect the boy from the harsh reality they where facing
DeleteI have also read the book and I agree with Foster, i think he is more caring than bossy, but it just comes off that way because he wants the boy to survive.
Deletei agree, i wouldnt want to spend much time with him unless i had to, because of his bossiness
DeleteI read this book as well and I agree with what Foster said about the man making the best of situations for the boys well being. Anyone who has read this book will learn that the boy is not very intelligent.
DeleteIn the book "Precious" the main character in my book is Claireece Precious Jones she is a 16 year old that got raped by her father and is now pregnant with 2 kids from him. I visualize her as being a bigger black girl with a mean look all the time. Her personality seems very mean and snotty so far. She doesn't really interact with people around her she likes to stay to herself. I don't think I would hangout with Claireece because of how she acts towards people. If she didn't act like she did then yes I would defiantly hangout with her. I also believe that Claireece uses the alternative school as her motivation cause she is starting to actually make friends there and she likes to go there because she doesn't like to be at home with her mother that betrays her and beats her and her father who rapes her.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you I wouldn't want to be around someone that is negative all of the time. She does have a reason to be though because if I got raped by my father I wouldn't be the person I am now either.
DeleteI also agree with you and how I wouldn't want to be around someone who is always mad and mean all the time.
DeleteI'm reading the Perks of being a Wallflower and the main character in my book is Charlie. Charlie is a high school boy who is an outcast in school. He doesn't have many friends in the beginning of the novel but towards the middle he starts to hangout with a few people. He thinks he's very cool now and does things to try and get people to like him. If he existed in my world I would be nice to him because I believe everyone deserves to have friends.
ReplyDeleteI agree I believe that everyone deserves to have friends to and I would be Charlie's friend. He seems like a good nice kid.
DeleteI would def hang with this guy, poor kid dont have any buddies, id feel bad.
DeleteI agree that everyone deserves to have a friend especially if your a nice person which this guy seems like he is.
DeleteI also read this book and agree that this kid especially deserves to have friends
DeleteMy character is R.P Mcmurphy. This guy could sell a ketchup Popsicle to a women in white gloves. I envision him as a sly looking guy in his jacket and hat he wears. Hes a jail bird, so don't take care of himself. scruffy face dirty. He doesnt want to work so he acts nuts to do nothing all day. He trys to persude the other patients. He is kind of funny to see what he does., if he was real id stay away he makes bad choices. Id think hes funny to watch but not act like him.
ReplyDeleteI feel if he cleaned him self up a bit he would make one great con man
DeleteIt sounds like it is a funny book
DeleteReminds me of Frank from Shameless
DeleteSeems like its a funny book, i agree that, being a jail bird, he probably wouldn't take very good care of himself
DeleteHe actually does remind me of Frank from Shameless, that's weird but kind of cool.
Deletehe seams like a person that doesn't take life so seriously. I also think he screwed up once and now he don't want to try again.
DeleteMy book doesn't really have a main charters being that it is an informative style of writing. The Author is the closest thing to a charter. Since there are sections in the book where he shares moments in his life that shaped his opinion on the subject of region. As well as how he interacts with people who are strictly theists. Since he does exist in the real world I would love to meet him just to discuses some of the options that we share as well as get his take on a few of the grey zones created by his writings. He also shares real world events which kind of create a momentary main charter for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI feel like I would try to avoid talking to this person because they would be really smart and passionate about this topic. I wouldn't want to say the wrong thing or make myself sound stupid. I just don't talk about things I don't know much about unless I'm asking a question.
DeleteThe main character in my book is Alex Cross, He's a Washington, D.C. Homicide investigator and forensic psychologist. In the beginning of the book Alex was solving a murder of a black family but was pulled off the case to solve a kidnapping of two white kids, he grew angry when he learned that because everyone is trying to solve the kidnapping of the two white kids and no one is caring about the black family that was murdered. When ever I envision him in the book I think of Morgan Freeman, mainly because in the movie version of the book Morgan Freeman plays Alex Cross. Alex's wife was murdered and the thought of his wife's murderer on the loose possibly killing other women he keeps being a detective to catch the killer. If Alex Cross really existed in the world? i don't know if i would want to meet him, meeting a detective would be cool and stuff but i wouldn't know what to say if i meet him, i wouldn't know what to do.
ReplyDeleteI think it would be pretty cool to know a detective and to be friends with him. This sounds like a pretty good book to me.
DeleteThe book I am reading is 'Treasure Island'. I would say that Jim Hawkins is the main character in the book because he is also the narrator. Jim is a younger boy probably around 13 he lives in Bristol England, and his dad is an owner of a popular inn. I would say that he is courageous and smart. In the book he is motivated because he found a treasure map. If he was real I would probably hang out with him, but I don't know if I would like him thought.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an adventurous book
DeleteThat's a connection I can make to my book. Both characters are trying to find something or figure something out, and you have to keep reading to discover what you're looking for.
Deletesounds like something that could keep you on the edge of your seat like my book
DeleteIn my book "The Outsiders" the main character is ponyboy and he is about our age in the book with long hair and wheres tight jeans and blue jackets to make him look cool. I see him at about five and a half to six feet tall and scrony but tough looking. So far in the book he uses the Soc's who are the other gang of rich kids on the other side of town as his motivation because they are always looking to jump the greasers and beat them up so ponyboy and the other greasers are always watching for them. Ponyboy gets along really well with the other greasers because they are like brothers but he don't get along very well with the Soc's though. I think ponyboy would be an alright kid to be around and hangout with because he doesn't try to start trouble, trouble just seems to find him.
ReplyDeleteThis seems like a good book!! Can't wait to find out more
Deletethis was a good book when I read it I remember it being slow but then picking up towards the end,
DeleteI'm reading "If I Stay" and the main character is Mia and shes a classical music lover. She plays the Cello and currently shes in the ICU because she got into a car accident and her parents died and her brother Teddy is also in critical condition. She's described as a nice girl who's very passionate about music. Sometimes she feels like fourth wheel because she likes classical music rather than rock because of her parents.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a cool book that has a lot of obstetrical for the main character.
DeleteI just hope the book is similar to the movie in this one. Too many books have more of the story than the movie.
DeleteI am reading the same book and I agree with the way you descried mia.
DeleteI was not to pleased with the movie. I would imagine/hope the book is a lot better!
DeleteI read the book Unbroken. The main character Louis Zamperini is a strong willed young trouble making kid until he joins the track team. This really turned around his life and it forced him to get his stuff together. I envision Louis like a stereotypical runner with long legs, not too strong, skinny kid. Louis interacts with basically anybody, he's a nice kid that just started rough in childhood. I probably wouldn't hang out with Louis if he went to my school or anything but he seems like a nice kid so I would most likely just say hi and have conversation with him. For motivation Louis used the track team to get his way out of poverty and be the best on the track team. He soon has the potential to be the best in the country and world. He explained when he was younger he hated running but the feeling afterward and the fans cheering were "intoxicating".
ReplyDeleteFrom what you have, I can really picture your character. The detail you used was outstanding. You went into depth about how he was using track to get over his poverty which is a key point from the book.
DeleteLouis Zamperini sounds like a cool kid, he sounds like a very hard worker.
DeleteThe main character's life in "The Martian" turned around when they found out he was alive I feel. It seems like he's telling someone his story from being on Mars to someone else so it sounds like he made it back to Earth. But it was a turn of events!
DeleteThe main character in my book is Thomas. He is about our age with dark hair and is a tall male. Very athletic. For motivation he uses the fact that he wants to help others and get his memories back. How he reacts around others is he is very confident and expresses how he feels about things even though its looked down on. My main character adds to the story by giving hope to others. If he existed i don't know if i would hang out with him.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a very good read and since I am in your group I know you like it as well. You could have used a little more description when talking about the character, but I like how you talked about what motivates him.
Deleteit would be hard to wake up in a strange place with no memories
DeleteI can picture what the main character in your book may look like by the detail you used in your writing. On the last two blogs that you have written I can tell that you enjoy the book you are reading. I may have to read the book you are reading.
DeleteI agree with spencer I can picture him in my head. He kind looks like you honestly LOL
DeleteI'm reading the Running Dream and I want to introduce Jessica. So i imagine her as a 5'6'' and thing because she's a runner. I think she would have blonde hair and have a little wave to her hair. One thing unique about my character is that she only has one leg. She got in a car crash when she was on her way home from a track meet and they had to amputate it off. She can only move around crutches until her prosthetic leg gets fitted. I can see her being able to run again when she gets her prosthetic leg on. She also is a very caring person towards others especially Rosa and she is in a wheelchair. Without Jessica in the story then their would be no theme to the story. If she was real in life I would hangout with her for sure.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Jessica will be able to run competitively again, how much of her leg was amputated?
DeleteHopefully she can run someday again. I couldn't even imagine having to get my leg amputated.
DeleteI couldn't imagine going through that much adversity in a lifetime. Sounds like a lot of hardships and struggle.
DeleteThe main character of "The Lord of the Flies" is named Ralph. He is about 13 years old and has blond hair, he is of average height and weight of his age. Ralph's main motivation is to get off the island that they are stranded on. He is elected the chief of the group of boys on the island and tries to motivate them to help him with his goal of getting off the island. He is not a very strong leader, however, and the other boys usually do whatever they want. If this person existed in our world I think I would like him but because of our age differences we probably would not hang out.
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to know if they survive, are there any other boys that feel confident enough to be the leader?
DeleteI am reading "Saving Max" and the main character is Danielle. She is the mother of Max, and I picture her to have dark, straight hair that is typically pulled back in a tight pony tail or bun. She is a lawyer and is constantly stressed about her job, her son's disorder.
ReplyDeleteWhat makes her important to the story is that she is confused about what is going on with Max. Max is starting to become extremely violent and abusive, and the doctors don't even know what to do. This places Danielle in the shoes of any person that would be dealing with this, and helps the reader relate. As a reader you don't know what is going on with Max, and that is what keeps the book interesting.
I like this book because it's a mystery, and Danielle is like the person you're playing in the story. You're goal is just to find out what is going on, and that is exactly what Danielle is doing.
This sounds like a really good book! Just from your description I can understand and see why Danielle would like the way she does. I think it would be hard to be friends with her because she is stressed and might put more focus on work.
DeleteThe way you described the book was amazing and it sounds like a really great book. I don't really think it would be hard to be her friend I might be a challenge and I love challenegs.
DeleteFrom what I have read and heard you say this sounds like an extremely good book. Mysteries are the best.
DeleteI am reading The Call of the Wild, by Jack London. the main character is a dog named Buck. He is a fairly large dog, he looks like a German Shepard-golden retriever mix. His motivation throughout the book is survival, he has been thrown into the wilderness against his will and must fight to live. He does not get along with the new people and dogs around him. However he is loved and is extremely nice to his original family/owners. I would like to have a dog like Buck, he is very nice to people that he knows well.
ReplyDeletewhat our books have in common is that both are main characters are based around survival
DeleteIn My book this young girl is fighting to survive with her traumas something different, but similar with you character as for they eventually need to find something to cope with this.
DeleteThe main character of my book is Chris Herren. He is the star basketball player, is known by the whole town of Fall River and is also know as one of the biggest trouble makers in the town. The weird thing is, he has two different personalities when it comes to playing basketball and being with his friends when they are drinking and smoking dope. This is a non-fiction book and I actually got the privilege to hear Chris Herren talk, but that is a different story. I picture him as a lean, strong as it comes white kid. He has dark black hair that has streaks of blonde in it. To go back to his personalities, he is very outgoing and will do and say whatever he pleases in basketball because he is the star. But when it comes to him drinking and smoking dope in his buddies basement every weekend he is a very shy guy around other people. I believe he has a little social anxiety and doesn't really cope well when he is around people, so that's the reason I think he isn't as outgoing off the basketball court. Chris adds a very descriptive role to the book. With it being a non-fiction novel, it really describe all the actions and decisions he made. If I had the chance to hang out with Chris I would, the reason being would be to get him out of his comfort zone a little and to have him get over his social anxiety. I would really like him as a person, but on the basketball court, not so much because of the actions he displays there.
ReplyDeleteJames Melouney is a young business man raising over 350 million dollars in revenue for the corporate world, and prior to that he worked for a strategy consulting firm advising on multi-billion dollar merger proposals and infrastructure projects in the private and and public sector. At age 25 he published his first book "The Art of Success" which has become a bestseller on Apple iBooks. Today he spends his time writing, speaking, and consulting with friends, family and other people. He says that by sharing his journey with the rest of the world it will motivate people to do similar things he did in the financial world. He really knows the details behind motivation, because he can pretty much read your insights just by writing this book.
ReplyDeleteHe would be interesting to meet.
DeleteHe seems like he has a chill life
Deletehe seem succesful
DeleteBy the detail in your writing i can picture how assertive your character is. It would be interesting to meet and get to talk to someone that has that much money at such a young age. Your character you are describing sounds very interesting.
DeleteThe main character in the book is Chris Kyle I envision him as someone who cares about protecting people as if he was sent to guard the United States. From what i read he was super nice and was easy to get along with. He would have trouble adjusting to the normal life when he got back from war but other then that he cared about everyone except terrorist no matter what they thought about him. Chris is in good shape he has a bread and three tattoos. If the book uses any motivation it would be him just writing about his life which would be enough to motivate anyone in my mind. Well besides killing the terrorist and needing time to himself Chris usually did good with getting along with people he like to make people laugh but he did have times where he would just want to get back to the war because he knew that being home he couldn't save other american solider's. Chris adds facts to the book and tells it like it is with out cutting corners or with out break the rules he was given to keep somethings secret and not putting people in danger. If Chris was still alive to day i would like to meet him in person to thank him for what he has done to keep us safe. It is hard to tell if you would like a person with out knowing him but from what the book is telling me is that he was a great guy and that he is really easy to get along with.
ReplyDeleteYes I see what you are saying on it being hard to know if you would like a person without knowing them well. In "The Martian"... Mark Watney is played by Matt Damon in the film. So I envision him as Matt Damon. It's just a good comparison and easy to visualize. Both of our books have to do with something in the U.S. mine is NASA and yours is about Chris Kyle protecting the United States. Just something I found interesting!
DeleteI saw this movie and the book sounds almost as good as the movie.
DeleteMy main character in "Catching Fire" is Catniss Everdeen. She's your average height girl with blackish hair. Her main motivation at the beginning of the Hunger Games is her mom and her sister Prim. She wants to do everything she can to make her family proud and to survive in this country that is falling apart. She is kind of weird socially because most of the time she is timid and nervous around a lot of people but there are some people that she is very out going towards. Catniss adds that sense of pride in my second book as she becomes more confident about her winning the Hunger Games. If she was real I feel like she would be an interesting person to talk to.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you when you say that she might be interesting to talk to.
Deletei feel the same way just to know how it felt being hunted down and trying to survive something that put you against others.
Deletei think it would be cool to meet her in person
DeleteReally good book, I've read it. I think you will enjoy it very much.
Deleteim reading the first one right now and thats exactly how i pictured it but you said it better.
DeleteI also enjoy my character, her life is interesting, and I want to know more!
DeleteIn my book Running Loose the main character is a senior in High School and his name is Louie. Louie is about 5'2, built but not well-built, the normal boy hair cut and probably shy. What motivates Louie is the lost of a loved one, Becky, his girlfriend died in a car accident. Along the way he has had help, whether it be from his mom and dad or his best friend Carter, Louie also went to Becky's dad house so they could talk. I don't really know what Louie adds to the story at the moment. If someone like Louie existed most likely I will hang out with him. When he feels something is wrong he will not let It slip he don't care where he is at at the moment you will hear what he has to say. I will like him because he does'nt like bullying basically and stands for what he believe is the right and wrong thing.
ReplyDeletethe book i ma reading is the hobbit and the main character is a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo is a little shorter dwarves but more civilized and less hair with big hairy feet and slightly pointy ears. he is not skinny nor is he fat, he is just a little plump. in the book bilbo doesn't have much motivation for going on the quest in the first place. he was originally not going to go on the quest but changed his mind at the last second.so far bilbo has been more of a burden then any thing else to the others in the story and that is the way they see him, as some one who will slow them down. if bilbo was real i wouldn't want to hang out with him. throughout most of the book so far he has whined and complained about everything, and i don't like people who continuously whine
ReplyDeleteIn the book ' And Then There Were None' the main character is Justice Wargrave he is a recently retired judge and got a letter sent to him by "Mr. Owen" saying he was invited to Indian Island by one of his old friend Constance Culmington whom he hadn't seen in over eight years. I visualize him being tall, and skinny and dresses fancy. His personality so far seems like he's a know it all but he also knows what he's doing. He interacts with people around him like he's the boss of everything. I don't think I would hang out with him just because he seems controlling but in a situation like in their book I would like to have him to be there because he always knows the answer to everything and he's trying to keep them alive.
ReplyDeleteKatniss is the main character in my book. i imagine she is skinny and like 5'8". she is loyal throughout the book so far, but i dont know if that will change. i think she will be loyal through out the book but well see. she lives in a ruff world and is like a mother figure to her little sister.
ReplyDeleteshe does stay loyal throughout the book and acts like a mom figure to alot of people
DeleteI picture Katniss to look like Jennifer lawrence
Deletei do to tristen now that you mention somtheing
Deletethe book im reading is "into the wild" the main character's name is chris McCandless after he runs away he changes his name to Alex Supertramp. The book described him as having brown scraggley hair and kind of scrawny. His motivation is that he wants to explore and not have anything to do with society. he will talk to pretty much everyone he just doesnt like to take anything from anyone unless he works for it. the whole story is based around alex's travel through north america. Alex did exist in the real world and i dont think we would really hang out cause he moves around alot and i like to stay in one spot and get used to the place and people im set around.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Deletemoving around like that would be fun i think
DeleteIn the book "The Martian"... The main character's name is Mark Watney and I honestly see Matt Damon as Mark Watney because he did such an amazing job in the movie made a couple years back. The only motivation he has is that he wants to live. If I was able to be around him... I would love listening to his stories about every single day on Mars. Not saying it would make me want to go up to Mars. But, I would enjoy listening to what it's like especially being stranded there. He would also be the type of person who does not get the credit he deserves in my opinion because he was the lowest ranked member of the crew.
ReplyDeletein the book lord of the flies one of the main characters is Ralph and he is the leader of the group and is motivated by getting home he is mostly a nice guy unless you do something to screw up the group and i would probably hang out with him just because he knows what hes doing in a survival situation
ReplyDeleteIn the book "The Firm" The main character Mitch is a very wet behind the ears laywer who jumps the gun on his too good to be true job offer. I think hes being very unwise not quitting the job and getting the heck away from there and its starting to make me wonder if hell even stay alive.
ReplyDeleteI am reading "if I stay" and the main characters names is mia. she is a teenage girl who loves classical music and she plays the cello. I picture her as a quite girl who doesn't always fit in. she has a boy friend who shares the same love in music as she does. she grew up around her parents loving music but they didn't have the same love for classical music as she did and I think that makes her feel kind of like an outsider in her family.
ReplyDeleteThe main character of my book is Randy Pausch. As well as this Randy is also the author of the book I am reading. I envision Randy as a humbly sound person that doesn't take life for granted and makes the most of his opportunities. I would picture Randy to be a tall slender man around the age of 40. The main characters motivation in my book is that he has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer he uses this information to make the most of the time he has left in his life. If I was able to hang out with Randy I would make the most of the time I got to spend with him. Why you ask? Because I personally think he gets the true meaning of life and that's to make every moment count weather its big or little. None of us no how much time we have left so do what is significant to you cause if you don't then who will? I would like the man character of my book
ReplyDeleteHope you're enjoying this book
DeleteIn the book 'The Best of Me' the main character is Dawson. When reading my book and thinking about it in my head I see him as a grown man that is average height with dark brown hair and some scruff on his face. In the book all his motivation is for Amanda, which is one of the other main characters. She is his reasoning. Having Dawson as a main character adds so much to the book, his relationship between Amanda and him is mainly the story. He is the one that is involved in the main peak of the story with a shocking twist.
ReplyDeleteThe main character in the book "The Boy in the Striped Pajamas" is a boy named Bruno. I imagine him to be 8-10 years old. Short young man with brunette hair and a light tan. The person who motivates him is Shmuel, he tells him about how horrible it is on the other side of the fence (inside the consetration camp) and I think it makes Bruno realize that moving could've been worse. Bruno is desperate for friends so he would talk to the servants they had and the boy on the other side of the fence. He complained a lot about moving to Auschwitz and it eventually makes his parents regret it too. Bruno is an adventurer, so I think if I was his age I would have loved to hangout with him. I think if Bruno was not a brave and adventurous person, the story would have been very different and wouldn't have been as interesting.

DeleteThe main character in "The Book Thief" is Liesel Meminger. Her life gives a change when her mother takes them to a foster home, her young brother dies on the way, and she finds a book in the snow when they bury her him. As I keep on reading I see Liesel, as a curious person, a risk taker, and a girl with a deep sadness. At the begginig of the book her motivation after the trauma she lived is learning to read. She wanted badly to read the book had stolen. At night this was her secret, reading with her new Papa. After learning how to read another book was stolen prom the Nazi fire, a Jew book. Liesel does the things that shouldn't be done this is why the relationship between her, and her Papa is so strong. She's a nice girl, and respects her foster parents. Although if someone does something bad to her, she will do something about it. For example, when she bet this kid at school who made fun of her for not knowing how to read. Liesel is something eccentric to the story. The things she has gone through make this story interesting, because it show how Liesel, fights her traumas in the middle of a Nazi Germany. If I were to meet Liesel, I would probably talk to her, but I don't think I'm the type of person she would hang out with. She's more adventurous.
